MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH …,

INT. MAIN ROOM OF CYRUS RESIDENCE - EARLY EVENING

EMILY knocks on door.  

BILLY RAY 

Come on in, Emily. 

(a beat) 

What 'ya up to? 

EMILY 

JACKSON, OLIVER, and RICCO are down by Pells. 

Thought maybe MILEY wants to 

walk down and hang out for awhile. 

BILLY RAY 

She went upstairs after dinner. 

Haven't seen her since. 

CUT TO:

INT. HALLWAY AND MILEY BEDROOM 

EMILY steps up stairs and into bedroom. Miley seated upon chair in front of computer screen.  

EMILY 

The guys are down by Pells. 

Wanna go hang out there for awhile? 

MILEY 

(a beat) 

One second …, Em … 

MILEY reads a screenplay from Web page: Hannah Montana Takes Manhattan. Page is scrolled and EMILY is able to read the title of screenplay from top of page. MILEY looks upon EMILY perplexed, tongue-tied.   

MILEY 

(continue) 

It's a cool screenplay. 

The guy wants to build things … 

with my Hannah Montana fans. 

EMILY 

Cool. 

MILEY inserts thumb drive into computer. Download of several Web pages to thumb drive. Thumb drive removed and pocketed.  

MILEY 

Let's go. 

CUT TO:

INT. MAIN ROOM OF CYRUS RESIDENCE 

BILLY RAY pouring vegetable purée from juicer into large paper cups.  

MILEY 

Dad, I put a red folder on your desktop. 

BILLY RAY 

OK, Mile. I'm going up there as soon as I'm done here. 

There's two extra cups of juice

on the counter here, … for you two. 

EMILY and MILEY step into kitchen and take hold of paper cups.  

EMILY 

What 'ya got in here? 

BILLY RAY 

Celery. Beets. Cabbage. 

(to MILEY) 

Purple carrots and lemon Jello. 

MILEY 

Jello? 

BILLY RAY 

Try it. Tell me if you like it. 

EMILY and MILEY take gulps. Lower glasses and raise eyebrows to each other.  

EMILY 

It's good. 

MILEY 

Great slurry of Jello bits, Dad. 

I like it, too. 

Gotta go. 

CUT TO:

EXT. LITTORAL COVE - PELLS 

JACKSON and OLIVER walk beach collecting driftwood. JOHN, MARY, LUKE, RICCO dig sand at Pells preparing bonfire. 

OLIVER 

Hey, there's alot of stuff over here. 

JACKSON 

Great. Enough wood here to keep a 

bonfire going awhile. 

JACKSON and OLIVER fill their arms with driftwood and walk to drop wood near fire. 

JACKSON 

(to MARY, JOHN, LUKE) 

Come on and we'll all carry back some wood 

Keep the fire going for awhile. 

JOHN 

(to MARY) 

We'll go. You wait here if you want. 

OLIVER 

(to RICCO) 

Let's get a kindle fire started. 

JOHN and LUKE follow JACKSON towards driftwood. RICCO and OLIVER kneel, break sticks smaller for kindling.  

RICCO 

You guys set a date for the summer 

tour? 

OLIVER 

May be breaking up. 

RICCO 

Whoa. What happened? 

OLIVER 

We're still cool. 

Hanson left Third Person Schizoid. 

They need a new bass. 

Talked to Toby. 

He's been session with them the last few days. 

RICCO 

Awe …! That's great. 

OLIVER 

Yeah. You bet. 

EMILY and MILEY stroll off path towards JACKSON, JOHN, LUKE. 

MILEY 

What you guys doing? 

JACKSON 

Grab some wood to take back. 

LUKE 

(to MILEY) 

Bonfire wood. 

EMILY 

I'm not touching that stuff. 

MILEY 

Yeah, JACKSON, you got two strong arms. 

Carry mine and Emily's back for us, OK? 

Driftwood collected and five characters return to Pells. MILEY kneels next to RICCO.  

MILEY 

Hey, RICCO. 

How's everything going? 

RICCO 

Howdy, Miley. I’m good. 

What's up 

MILEY 

You once told me your uncle is into robots. 

RICCO 

Yeah, … he's a partner with this place 
just outside Silicon Valley. An OEM. 

They design and manufacture industrial systems. 

MILEY 

Yeah, … sure. OK. 

And you know a bit about robots, too, right? 

You're going to USC this fall? 

RICCO 

Going to major in electrical engineering. 

A minor in mathematics. 

And, …? 

MILEY 

Do me a favor? 

Look at this guys website on this flashdrive. 

Tell me what you think. 

MILEY withdraws flash drive from pant pocket. 

RICCO 

What's it about? 

MILEY 

The guy wants to build robots, too. 

Real ones. 

Like the kind in movies that act human. 

He uses a graph …, 

and he keeps adding lines to the graphs 

as he explains … 

(a beat) 

things. 

I don't know. 

I can't explain it, 

but I know you're smart, 

and if what this guy is writing makes any sense at all, 

you'll know.

RICCO 

OK. I'll look at it tonight. 

(chuckle) 

And you're pretty cute, too. 

MILEY 

(bubbling up her trademark
low bass-tone chuckle) 

The guy is writing this robot stuff 

into scripts for a future Hannah Montana movie, 

… a season of episodes. 

He wants Hanna to get into it, 

expecting some of our fans to follow in our footsteps. 

Maybe one of them will write some kind of paper

to explain it to everyone else, … someday. 

RICCO 

No problem. 

MILEY
